History of Strathnaver Pipe Band

The Strathnaver Pipe Band was orginally formed in 1997 by Lynda Mackay.  The band was successful in their grade 4 season having placed at various contests.  The following year, the band won the grade 4 contest at the North American Pipe Band Championships as well as the Ontario Champion Supreme Award for grade 4.  They were then moved up to grade 3, where they disbanded after the 1999-2000 season.

The band has formed once again under the leadership of PM Lynda Mackay as well as LD Mitch Mackay.  Lynda is also the Pipe Sergeant with the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band; Mitch also plays with the Toronto Police Pipe Band.

The band wears the Ancient Mackay tartan.
