NEWS!!

Strathnaver took 2nd place at the Kincardine Highland Games this weekend (July 7, 2007).  George Watson's College of Edinburgh, Scotland took the first place prize with Penetangore taking third.  Congratulations to Devon and Mitch on their solid solo performances as well.  The band looks forward to competing in Chatham next weekend.

The band put on a solid performance at the Embro Highland Games (July 1sr, 2007).  Two grade 4 bands competed in the grade 3 contest as well.  Congratulations to London Firefighters and Grand Celtic Pipe Band on their results.  It was a long chilly day.  Congratulations also to Devon on her 2nd place Grade 3 Snare result!

Congratulations to the band on their 3rd place performance on Saturday at the Sarnia Highland Games (June 16th, 2007).  Toronto Police took first, followed by the Penetangore Pipe Band taking 2nd.  It was a very hot day with shade at a premium.  This was the first medley contest of the year.  Embro is the next contest on July 1st and we'll be playing our Medley.

The Strathnaver Pipe Band took 4th place overall at the 2007 Georgetown Highland Games (June 9th, 2007).  Congrats to Penetangore and Toronto Police on their solid results.  It was a good start to our grade 3 year, the band will be improving from here.  A special congratulations goes out to Mitch and Devon on their engagement as well.  We are looking forward to next weekend at the Sarnia Highland Games.

Our first contest of the 2007 in Grade 3 went rather well considering the band's fresh faces.  The band came in 2nd at the annual Hanover Indoor Pipe Band Contest (April 28, 2007).  Penetangore took the top prize in the Grade 3 contest.  The event was well attended by both spectators as well as bands.  The band is currently finalizing medley details and looking forward to Georgetown.

The 2007 season is quickly approaching.  The band has increased in both piping and drumming numbers and we are all looking forward to competing.  Our first contest will be at the Hanover Indoors on April 28th.  Please check out our Calendar for our upcoming events.  If you are interested in coming out to join/listen/watch, we are at our NEW practice location in the Galt Legion Hall @ 4 Veteran's Way, Cambridge, ON.  We practice from 7pm - 9pm.  Once the weather is more appropriate, we will be practicing outside either at the legion or at a predetermined location.  Please check back often as the photos will be changing as well as adding pictures for the roster section.  Thanks for everyone continuing support of the band and we look forward to seeing everyone this coming season!

We are looking for NEW MEMBERS!  We plan on moving up to Grade 3 for the 2007 season.  We are looking for Pipers and Drummers of all talent levels.  The band performed rather well in the 2006 season with only 2 months of practice before their first contest.  We are looking forward to the following season - more practice time, things are only going to get much better.  Please contact either Lynda (PM) at: piper_5@hotmail.com  or Mitch (LD) at: mitchisa@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining the group or atleast coming out to a practice.

Strathnaver Pipe Band took 3rd at the Fergus Highland Games (Aug. 12th, 2006).

Maxville Highland Games (Aug. 5th, 2006) wasn't our greatest showing of our Medley, but the band came in 7th on the day.  Congrats to Greg on his victory in Gr. 3 solos as well.  Montreal Highland Games (Aug. 6th, 2006) was another hot day for the band, they pulled off a 4th place against a strong field.

Another extremely hot day - not hot enough to slow down the Strathnaver Pipe Band placing 1st in Cambridge Highland Games (July 15th, 2006).  Congrats to the Pipe Corps for Best Pipe Section.  The Drum Corps took 2nd place to Glengarry.  Greg also won his grade 3 solo drumming event.  The band put on a good show in the beer tent after last massed bands as well.  Now it's time for the band to increase their efforts - Maxville (North American Pipe Band Championships) are coming up next!

Strathnaver Pipe Band took 3rd place at the Chatham Highland Games (July 8th, 2006).  It was a long, hot day.  Congrats to Braemar Pipe Band and the Paris Pipe Band on thier 1st and 2nd placings, respectively.  Cambridge is next...

Kincardine (July 1st, 2006) was a great day weather wise as well as performance.  Strathnaver took First in every category.  Congrats to the drum corps on their first domination of the season.  The band took part in the morning parade as well.  The final massed bands were cancelled due to the rain.  Chatham should be another good contest with 13 bands entered to play.

Well it was a nice, sunny day at the Hamilton Highland Games (June 25th, 2006).  The band took 3rd prize, beaten by Braemar and Glengarry.  Congrats to Greg on his first place finish in grade 3 solos as well as Cindy on her 2nd place in grade 4.  We are looking forward to Kincardine on July 1st.

Strathnaver Pipe Band put on a great performance at the Georgetown Highland Games (June 10th, 2006).  They placed First among 12 bands - a few of the members experienced their first competition with the band as well.  Congratulations to our Mid-Section (Jim and Kyle) for winning best bass!  This has been a fantastic start to the season - hopefully setting the standard for the band.  Congrats also to Greg with his 2nd place finish in Grade 3 solos.

Congratulations to the Strathnaver Pipe Band on their First place result at the Hanover Indoors 2006 (April 29th, 2006).  The mini-band took two firsts in piping and a third in drumming.  Congrats to Grand Celtic as well as Paris on their 2nd and 3rd placing respectively.  As for the solo's in the morning, Congrats to Kaitlin Kimove on her first place in Grade 2, Josh McFarlane on his 2nd place in Grade 1, Chris Behnke with his 3rd in the Practice Pad, and Greg Spiteri with his 1st place in Grade 2 drumming.

Mitch and Lynda put on a good performance at the annual Agnew-Harrison Invitational Drumming Contest this past weekend (March 11th, 2006) in Hamilton, Ontario.  There was a strong group of competitors.  Congratulations to Graham Brown, Craig Stewart, and Ian Maderios on their results.
